You may know him as dashing spy James Bond, or going back even further, as the titular character in “Remington Steel,” but did you know that Irish actor Pierce Brosnan is also a painter?
His vibrant works are currently on display at Palm Beach’s brand-new art gallery, Jennifer Balcos Gallery, which had its grand opening Dec 14.
Brosnan has stated that art was his first love.
He started painting when his first wife, Cassie, was suffering from cancer.
“Sometimes dramatic moments affect the way you see yourself in the world,” he has said.
He found painting to be therapeutic and cites Picasso, Matisse, and Bonnard as influences.
Jennifer Balcos says she has five of Brosnan’s paintings on view at her new gallery until the end of January 2024.
“I think the pieces are very deep and very personal,” she tells Florida Weekly. “Red-Tails Studio’ and ‘Cassie at Red-Tails’ are some of his very first works ever. I am so thrilled to have these for sale.”
The gallery, which also has 7,000 square feet of space in Atlanta, represents 25 artists.
Balcos says she is excited about bringing new talent to South Florida. “We plan on playing a large role in the art scene here,” she says.
Renowned French painter and sculptor, Aude Herlédan, had her first showing in Palm Beach at the gallery’s grand opening.
There was a meet and greet afterward.
“Residents are already collecting and spreading the word about our gallery and artists,” says Balcos. “We couldn’t be more pleased to have chosen Palm Beach for our second location.”
Jennifer Balcos Gallery is located at 292 S. County Road, Palm Beach.
